It should definitely be in your archive: Arman Ratip – Article

Arman Ratip is a pianist and composer, born in Nicosia in 1942, and a journalist. She undoubtedly inherited her musical talent from her mother, Jale Derviş. jale dervish; At that time he was the most famous piano teacher in Cyprus. Arman Ratip grows up with his older sister Sümer in a house full of music. Arman Ratip, who took music lessons from his mother from the ages of 5 to 17, graduated from Nicosia English School in 1960, where he began his education in 1954. Later, after his high school education, he went to live with his father Mehmet Ratip Şevket Bey, who lives in England, and continued his education in London, where he started making music professionally.

Arman Ratip, who will stay in England for 15 years, studied journalism at the London School of Journalism from 1966-1969 and graduated as a journalist. Over the years he has worked successfully as a London correspondent for many newspapers. He gives his first major concert at the British Council Center. The concerts he gave successively in England and the 2 albums that were released by EMI and consist only of his own compositions and arrangements occupy an important place in his musical life.

In 1970 he released the album “Arman Ratip Trio – Introducing The Arman Ratip Trio” on the Columbia-EMI label. Featuring Uğurtan Günal, bassist of Doruk Onatkut Orchestra, İlhan Feyman Orchestra, Süheyl Denizci and Yavuz Özışık Orchestra, drummer Ünal Çaplı and Arman Ratip, brother of Erdoğan Çaplı, who became famous in America under his nickname Piano Pasha album. Arman Ratip returns to Northern Cyprus in 1979 and publishes PAN magazine. Arman Ratip, who has compositions for more than 60 pianos, also has two piano concertos. Ratip, who also has avant-garde jazz arrangements, is known and known as a pianist with a strong improvisational aspect. Arman Ratip, who is very interested in astronomy, named some of his compositions after constellations. Arman Ratip, who composes diverse and unusual compositions, is one of the most important and diverse pianists in the music world with his unique compositions and playing style. It’s one of my greatest wishes that he gives a concert in Turkey… Because Ratip is an important name whose musical background and experience should be benefited from.

Arman Ratip continued to produce in recent years. He also wrote “A Piano Recital of Space Music”, “Love Melodies (The Magic Piano of Arman Ratip)”, “Turkish Folk Music Arrangements”, “A Piano Recital of Space Music 2”, “The Magic Piano of Arman Ratip: Love Melodies”. II albums have been released by the Ahenk Music label in recent years. You can buy all Arman Ratip albums on digital platforms or by contacting Ahenk Music. I think there are albums that should be in your archive.

I had an interview with Arman Ratip in JAZZ Magazine years ago. After the sensational interview, I made the necessary attempts to have him give a concert in Izmir, but unfortunately these attempts were unsuccessful and we couldn’t host such an important musician in Izmir. I think that NGOs and local governments should focus and nurture this kind of cultural and artistic activities a bit more. Musically, I find it more appropriate to invite original musicians like Arman Ratip than to keep inviting the same names to festivals or concerts, especially in İzmir.

The songs by Arman Ratip on his latest album Love Melodies II are respectively;

First love, romance, love magic, everlasting love (gypsy girl), is this a dream, ballad, so close, so far, eyes for you (your eyes), love night. First Love is the most notable song on the album. The melody of the song is very strong. I can only recommend the other songs. Today I think Arman Ratip has a great place in our music market, where every pianist carries the title of pianist, both in terms of his career and his compositions.

stick to love
