Actress Cengiz Nezir, who starred in unforgettable films of Turkish cinema such as Hababam Class, Ah Where, Bizim Aile and Aile Şefi, told Habertürk about his journey to the big screen.
Here are the highlights from that interview:
“ISTANBUL IS VERY AFFORDABLE”
Unlike some of his co-stars in Hababam, Cengiz Nezir has not broken away from Istanbul. The actor said he went about his family business after leaving the cinema, saying: “I live in the Aegean Sea of Istanbul, Kadıköy. Istanbul is a very busy city, but Kadıköy is not like that.” the phrases used.
“I HAVE DONE R&D DIRECTORATE”
The actor said, “We don’t look for the Aegean much when there are districts like Caddebostan, Suadiye and Kalamış. We just retired. After leaving the cinema, I started working with my father. We made shoes I worked for 15 years with a brand that was a pioneer in the shoe industry. R&D Directorate. I did that.” the phrases used.
“I CAN’T COME TO MYSELF AFTER HULUSI KENTMEN’S SLAVE”
Speaking of an unforgettable memory behind the camera, the actor said, We’re shooting ‘Oh Where.’ In the film I played a student who got involved in the political events at the university. In the film, my father is the late Hulusi Kentmen… He’s going to pick me up from the police station and beat me. It was late, we were tired. “Brother Hulusi, you really need one, let’s finish this work well.” I said. At that time we wanted to end the film in a precious scene. Hulusi Brother was also a retired corporal, and his hand was heavy.
“I LEFT THE CINEMA BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE MY NAME ON THE POSTER, I REGRET”
Cengiz Nezir: “Why did you stop acting?” gives a surprising answer to the question: Yavuz Turgul was working in the ‘Arzu Film’ office at the time. He wasn’t a director or a screenwriter. He made film imports and posters. I was very happy when I saw my name on the Oh Where poster after Hababam Classroom. Back then, having your name on the poster was a big deal. My name was also on the Our Family poster. We shot Family Honor. Then I saw the poster, I have no name. I went to Yavuz Turgul. ‘Brother, why don’t I have a name?’ I asked. He said with a different attitude and style: “Cengiz, I forgot”. ‘No!’ I said… Surprisingly, I quit acting that day. Even my next film was finished. I wanted to do a role in Tosun Pasha.
The actor expressed his regret at the decision, saying, “Of course I regret it, but that’s youth… We were proud. Back then, you didn’t know the value of some things. These come back after years. “
“ERTEM EĞİLEZ WOULD NOT OPPRESS ANYONE”
Regarding Ertem Eğilmez, Nezir said: “Ertem Eğilmez was not a difficult person, but he was very disciplined. After trying to do your job properly, there would be no problem. He would not oppress anyone. Whether you were Tarık Akan or Münir Özkul, you waited on set during dinner. One day I even know that you fired Tarık Akan from the film.” the phrases are used.
“HE ALWAYS LIVED HIS SON’S PAIN”
Nezir also mentioned that Adile Naşit had a very different place in her: Adile Naşit was an incredible woman. He was like an angel. First Brother ‘Scream!’ she immediately burst into tears. “Rose,” he said, laughing immediately. She wasn’t very happy with her child. On his birthday he lost his son Ahmet. He has always experienced his pain.
