The municipality of Güngören opened a book fair for children in Martyrs Park on July 15th. The fair, which will continue from April 15th to 30th, is open to all book lovers. At the fair, attended by 50 authors and 70 publishers, Güngören Municipality will give away 20 lira gift vouchers to 12,000 students studying in the district so that they can buy a book to use in exchange for at least 1 book. Many children’s book authors and poets will attend the fair; There are also autograph sessions, lectures, fairy tale and painting workshops and conferences for the public.
THEY CELEBRATE THEIR HOLIDAYS WITH BOOKS
Deputy Mayor Abdülkadir Altınhan said that they were breaking new ground in Güngören: “At the same time, we are among the first in Turkey. Because the children’s book fair is not an ordinary situation. But it slowly started to spread in different districts across Turkey. Our publishers here specialize in children’s books. In addition, this fair also includes April 23rd. Our children will celebrate their holidays here with books. We will hold our celebrations on April 23 with this Mass.”

Explaining that they aim to bring about 50,000 children to the fair, Altınhan said, “Although 3-4 days have passed since the opening of the fair, the number of visits has exceeded 10,000. We give away gift certificates so our students don’t come back without buying a book. In this way we also support the sales of our publishers, even if it is small. So far we have given this voucher to 3,000 of our children. Our goal is to distribute 15,000 units. The contribution of this fair for children is as follows; They will have met important names in children’s literature, they will have access to important works here, they will also keep up to date with the newly published works about them.

Six-year-old Zehranur Ön, who came to the fair with her mother, said: “I bought a test booklet for the first grade. I love reading books. I can read books from 16 to 32 pages. There are many beautiful books at this fair. I want to take them all with me,” he said.
11-year-old Batuhan Önay said: “I really like reading books. This fair is very good and very broad. There are a variety of entertaining and educational books out there. I love fairy tales and horror books. I want to visit all parts of the fair and buy a book as soon as possible.”
