“Our inspiration is actually the slender face that the librarians found”

BİLECİK The photo exhibition “Books with human faces, people with book faces” in Bilecik attracted a lot of attention. Eyüp Ulugöl, who opened the exhibition, said his inspiration was the narrow face, saying, “When I saw the book cover, I realized that it matched my friend’s face very well, and I tried it.”

As part of the awareness created to promote reading in front of the Bilecik Province Public Library, the exhibition “Books with Human Faces, People with Book Faces” was set up. Citizens who visited the exhibition said that they had an interesting experience and visited such an exhibition for the first time. Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Librarian Eyüp Ulugöl, who gave information about the exhibition, said: “While I wanted to do something different with the book covers, I wanted to turn an individual work into an exhibition with a collective work, inspired by the work of public librarians who were inspired by the slender face. “He found a slender face. There were studies on a part of the body or his face. All of our work related to the face. In other words, we did these studies by combining people’s faces with book faces, with completely natural shots without combining them with any application,” he said.

“When I saw the cover of the book, I realized it matched my girlfriend’s face very well, so I gave it a try.”

Eyüp Ulugöl, staff member at Seyh Edebali University Library, explained that he used a photo of a librarian friend of mine in his first photo, saying, “Librarians may know, those who know. They check the shelf. When I saw the cover of the book, I realized that it matched my friend’s face very well. We tried it in 2015. A few more later. After we found another book. In 2017 we opened our first exhibition in the Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University Library. Then we improved the scope and photographs of the same exhibition, another exhibition took place during library week 2019 and add photos. We invite library friends and book lovers to combine the book not only with reading, but maybe also with art. It is better for them to take their relationship with the library to another dimension, shall we say. It was work done to draw attention to libraries and books. We assume that it will continue to rise. If you want, there are hundreds of thousands of examples of this on social media platforms, and if you want, you can look at them. In this study we wanted to show that books can be used not only for reading but also for artistic work for other activities. The book is not only there to be read, it is also the people who produce these books. Readers are people too. We wanted to draw attention to the fact that different relationships can be formed with people.”
