The filmmakers called on their colleagues to support their signatures with the following appeal:
“We are today where we were in the Gezi process that was started 9 years ago, in 2013, to protect the city by conscientious people and spread across the country and shared by millions. , Tayfun Kahraman, Özerden Mine, Hakan Altınay, Yiğit Ali Ekmekçi, each 18 years, and Osman Kavala aggravated life imprisonment and we oppose this decision which is not based on concrete evidence. No power has the right or limit to demonize, terrorize and punish the citizens using it.
As filmmakers of this country, we are the word, the voice and the face of the society from which we emerge. It is our duty not to turn our anger at this decision into hope and courage and to do our best to bring our country out of the darkness; We see it as our duty to build a Turkey where we can live freely.
We will not be spectators of this lawlessness, which is obviously trying to establish an empire of fear; We won’t be silent. We’re not afraid, we’re not afraid!”
